Eczema Treatment Breakthrough May Reduce Occupational Skin Disease

Montrose, CA (PRWeb) December 12, 2006 -- According to The Bureau of Labor Statistics Survey of Occupational Injuries and Illness released in October 2006, skin disease remains the most prevalent occupational illness. In fact, eczema accounts for nearly 20 percent of all reported occupational diseases in the U.S. Shielding lotion, a new breakthrough in dry skin care, originally formulated specifically for the workplace and now recommended by thousands of doctors for everything from mild dry skin care to eczema treatment, may be the solution workers have been waiting for.

The highest incidence of skin disease is found among workers in agriculture, forestry and fishing. The Centers for Disease Control (CDC) found that these occupations have a higher incidence of skin disease per capita than any other. In fact, research conducted by Wake Forest University in North Carolina revealed that up to 75 percent of Hispanic farm workers suffer from skin diseases. The chemicals and pesticides used to spray fields can cause severe dry skin conditions and lead to more serious problems such as eczema.

However, workers in these industries are not the only ones suffering from occupational skin disease. Research conducted by the Albert Einstein School of Medicine at New York’s Yeshiva University revealed that eczema accounts for nearly 20 percent of all reported occupational diseases in the U.S.

The Einstein School of Medicine recommends prevention as the most effective eczema treatment but, as the 2006 Survey of Occupational Injuries and Illness shows, it is clear that neither traditional protection nor eczema treatment methods are working: skin disease accounted for 16.5 percent of all reported private industry occupational injuries and illnesses over last year’s 15.6 percent.

Hundreds of dermatologists are now recommending a good shielding lotion for dry skin care and eczema treatment. A new technology in dry skin care, shielding lotion bonds with the outer layer of the skin to form a protective layer that locks in moisture and helps prevent direct contact with and absorption of harmful chemicals.

According to Dr. Rozalia Kovelman, Board Certified Dermatologist in West Hollywood, California, shielding lotion works differently than other skin care products. “Gloves In A BottleTM … works with the body's own defenses, it also addresses common dermatological health problems. My patients have reported very good experiences using the product. Some patients have had hyperkeratosis, psoriasis and eczema. We have seen it clear up the redness, soreness and cracking.”

As shielding lotion increases in popularity and hundreds of thousands of workers find relief with this new dry skin care and eczema treatment, future surveys may reveal a significant decrease in skin disease statistics.
