Skin Care 2010 - Capitalize on Your Skills
New York, NY (Vocus) April 19, 2010 -- The Society of Plastic Surgical Skin Care Specialists (SPSSCS) (http://www.spsscs.org/) celebrates its 16th Annual Meeting in Washington, DC. This year’s theme is Skin Care 2010 – Capitalize on Your Skills. The meeting offers educational seminars and sessions for nurses, aestheticians and other trained skin care specialists working in the offices of plastic surgeons certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery or the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada. Also featured are exhibits from companies manufacturing the latest products for medically-supervised skin care.
“Skin care has come a long way in the past 16 years,” says SPSSCS President-Elect and Program Chair, Susan Wells. “As Skin Care Specialists we partner with patients to assist them toward their aesthetic goals by collaboratively developing a treatment plan that takes into account their financial resources and lifestyle. Our meeting content supports that clinical role and our expanded professional role set involving organizational functions.”
According to statistics from the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (ASAPS), (http://www.surgery.org/) cosmetic laser procedures are incredibly popular; almost 1.3 million laser hair removal procedures and nearly half a million IPL laser procedures were performed last year. John Hoopman, a laser safety officer for the University of Texas at Dallas, will be presenting the basic theories of light as they apply to medicine, and an update on how to avoid complications through a better understanding of laser devices.
Another highlight of the meeting will be a course on the new Injectable Thread Lift technique. This injection technique, used to add volume to cheeks, brows, chins and jowls, will be taught for the first time at the Skin Care 2010 meeting.
